Limited Overs Cricket

It is commonly believed that Cricket is the greatest game that the wit of man has yet devised. Since the advent of this sport in the International arena, it had witnessed various developments and innovations which have led to the emergence of the modern cricket which we see today. Limited Overs Cricket is comparatively a new development in the game of cricket which has become quite popular in the cricket world.

If we browse through the history of Cricket we will reflect on the fact that the first One day cricket began between English county teams Leicestershire and Derbyshire on May 2, 1962.Limited overs cricket, also known as one-day cricket is a new development in which a match is generally completed in one day. It has got immense popularity since the game has become more interesting as the results come out in the same day of the match. The much popularity about Cricket in the recent years can be dedicated to the advent of the One Day Internationals.

The Limited Overs Cricket is a different test of the players since you have to play a hundred overs match equally distributed by 50 overs between the two teams.

The first Limited Overs International match was played in Melbourne in 1971 and people have loved the one day matches as it tempts the batsmen to commit in an aggressive, and entertaining batting resulting in total entertainment. Limited overs cricket has various scintillating matches under its banner which are truly unforgettable. Sparing the trouble to continuing with 5 long days, the one day matches have gifted this fast world with something worth cherishing. The World Cricket has proved that it is one of the most wonderful entertainments in the world. Certain restrictions are imposed on the playing in terms of overs of bowling and fielding placements which are still followed today.

Important one-day matches, international and domestic, often have two days set aside, the second day being a "reserve" day to allow more chance of the game being completed if a result is not possible on the first day (for instance if play is prevented or interrupted by rain).
