Mumbai tastes victory!

April 30, 2008 By: admin Category: Reviews and Previews 1 Comment →

KOLKATA: Finally, Mumbai tasted victory in the match played against Kolkata. With the big name Sachin Tendulkar missing from the team, the result was actually NOT, what every Cricket fan must have expected!
This time the Mumbai came forward with a better plan and strategy. This game plan provided them the least expected seven-wicket victory over the Sourav Ganguly-led Kolkata.
Mumbai’s batting was initially landed in troubled waters, only to emerge as victorious later! After losing three early wickets, Mumbai’s fourth-wicket pair of Robin Uthappa and Dwayne Bravo completely extracted the match away from the home side.
The duo produced the match winning unbeaten 113-run partnership, a championship record. After coming together at 25 for three in 4.1 overs, Uthappa and Bravo gave the much needed support to their team.
The two kept on plundering the runs and Ganguly’s bowling changes could not check this runs spree! The two added 50 off 43 balls and 100 off 74 balls. The blunder on Kolkata team’s side was when Debabrata Das dropped Uthappa, on five. This drop proved fatal for his team.

Man of the Match was Sanath Jayasuriya. The win was a result of combined effort of batting and bowling sides. Kolkata was restricted to 137 for eight by Mumbai bowling attack.

Earlier, Kolkata team was successful in making a respectable score only with the help of Laxmi Ratan Shukla’s 40 (22b, 4×4, 2×6) and Debabrata Das’ 29. Stand-in captain Shaun Pollock picked up two wickets in the first over itself. Sourav Ganguly landed a shot in the safe hands of Sanath Jayasuriya. A run later, Brendon McCullum was declared leg before by umpire A.V. Jayaprakash. After that Kolkata team could not recover from the initial jolts.
Das, who played aggressively, seemed to be the only hope of Kolkata team but he also went back to the pavilion for 29.

Mumbai, placed at the bottom of the table at 0 points, has a tough match against Kolkata (placed 3rd in the points table). What makes it ever more tough for the Mumbai team is the fact that Harbhajan is now not going to play and Sachin’s fitness is doubtful to date.

Venue : Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Mumbai : Harbhajan not being present in the team, the team would be looked after by Pollock if Sachin is not there. Sanath Jayasuriya has not fired till now, and neither has Luke Ronchi.

How to Play:

What happens when you are watching a live ODI between India and Australia and all of a sudden your favorite player is knocked out or he drops a very significant catch? You wish it had not happened, you spontaneously utter “Wish I was the captain, wish I could select the team”. If you think that, it is impossible to be the captain or a selector, then my friend think again! Fortunately you are at the right website, at the right time!

Register to win:

For bringing all the warriors in your own dream team you just need to register yourself. All you need is a valid email ID and residential address so that we can send all the fabulous prizes to you (which you are surely going to win). Do not forget your email ID and password, as it will be used to login, only then you will be able to manage your teams.

Make or shape your Team:

Once you become the registered user you will be allowed to make your own two teams and name them according to your own choice. So you have the chance to get two teams to score for you per one user account. This is to be noted that users with multiple log-in IDs will be disqualified.

How to Format your Team:

The strategy for formatting the team will vary from time to time as every game would be divided into various stages. There will be detailed format for every game or series so please refer to that section as and when needed. Your team’s ranking will depend on the performance of the players on the field in live matches. Prizes will be given to the users whose teams get top rankings.

Selection of Warriors for war of cricket:

Once you are ready to control the team of International stars just log in and you will become the “All Mighty Selector”. Select 11 warriors with one super sub for your war of cricket! As per the rules you have to select four leading batsmen, who you feel will bring your team to the top. These experts of bats will be accompanied by four bowlers. Finally select one wicket keeper and two all rounder players.

Selection of Captain:

The most important selection is of the captain of your team. You have to be extra vigilant while making this selection because the points he earns (excluding bonus points) will be doubled.

Each player has a rating which is provided by WarofCricket.com. Higher the rating, higher will be the ranking of the batsman. You have 1100 points so you need to select players within your rating budget.

Another important point to remember is that the same player can not be selected in more than one category. For example Adam Gilchrist can not remain in same team as a batsman and as a wicket-keeper both. It should be one or the other not both.

Substitution is also allowed not only for the test matches rather for ODI s and 20-20 matches as well. The game will be locked 30 Minutes before the start of the new match. So you need to make the changes before this time.

Your exciting experience does not end here rather war of cricket has more to offer- your players’ scores and bowling figures will be updated with every ball in the live matches.

With the Twenty20 IPL matches starting from April 18th, our site is here to take you on a thrilling ride during the very first IPL season. So don’t wait live your dreams with WarofCricket.com.

Rules of war of cricket

Rules of war of cricket are not different from the real game of cricket so the standard cricket rules will apply on this game too. Your dream team will bat for the maximum of 50 overs. Score of your team will depend heavily on the selected players so be careful while selecting the players.

Runouts will be considered as wickets. Only the player who dislodges the bails will be given the points for the run out.

In case you go for the substitutes then substitutes will take on the bowling and batting order of the player they are going to replace. While deciding the substitute you have to be clear that if that player does not participate in the live match due to any reason in that case you will not be allowed to use that player in war of cricket. Scoring points of various players in War of Cricket will be:

2 points per run taken.

50 points per wicket taken.

10 points per catch grabbed by any fielder other than Wicket Keeper.

20 points for every dismissal by the Wicket-Keeper (Catch or stumping).

10 points per run-out (All fielders including Wicket Keepers)

Bonus points will also be available for the following:

10 points for the player who gets a three-wicket haul.

20 points for the player who gets a five-wicket haul.

10 points for players who make a half-century.

20 points for the players who score century.

10 points for every 6.

5 points for every 4.

-50 points for players who are out for a duck (0).

Points for dismissals by Wicket Keeper are awarded to the player “wearing the gloves” at the time of the dismissal.

Substitute players who take catches, do stumpings or run-outs will score appropriate points for each dismissal.
