Brian Lara is one of the cricketing legends from Trinidad is known for his record breaking performances at several matches. This former cricketer has been on the number one spot in Test batting rankings on many occasions and also holds two prestigious world records for batting in Test matches which are the highest individual innings and the all-time leading run scorer. Brian Lara had an early education in correct batting technique and started his cricket career at the age of 14 while he was at school at Fatima College. Lara scored 745 runs in the schoolboys' league, with an average of 126.16 per innings, for which he got selected for the Trinidad national under-16 team.

After playing at several youth tournaments, Brian Lara made his debut in international cricket in the year 1990 at the age of 20. In the same year on 6the December he made his Test debut for West Indies against Pakistan. Brian Lara’s Test career statistics include 131 matches where he scored a total of 11953 runs which is a record score. His One Day International career statistics include 299 matches with a total score of 10405 runs.

He is known for being the all-time top run scorer in Test cricket, having the most centuries for a West Indian, scoring centuries against all Test-playing nations and more.
