Imran Khan

Imran Khan is one of the cricketing legends of Pakistan who also captained the National team between 1982 to1992. This former cricketer of Pakistan is regarded as one of the finest all-rounders the game has ever produced and is counted among the top players of the world like Kapil Dev, Garfield Sobers, Ian Botham, and Richard Hadlee. At present Imran Khan is a leader of a political party called Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice). During his cricketing career, he had received several awards and honors for his excellent performances at several test matches and ODIs and also achieved “All-rounder's triple” (3000 runs and 300 wickets) in 75 Tests.

Imran Khan made his debut in professional cricketing at the age of 18 in 1971 by playing against England at Birmingham. His debut performance was unimpressive and the senior players wrote him off as sub-standard Test player. Subsequently Imran took a break from the game and retuned in the year 1974.
Though he had a bad start, later in his career he had given some great performances and was one of the fastest bowlers of the world during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Imran Khan became the captain of the Pakistan National Team in 1982 whereby he transformed the Pakistan team, into a well-moulded unit.

The added responsibility as a captain of the national team helped Imran Khan take his performances to a higher level and in his first year of captaincy his career reached its peak as a fast bowler and an all-rounder. The ultimate glory as captain came when he led Pakistan to victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1992. A lot about cricket in Pakistan has changed since Imran Khan retired after winning the world cup for his team. More new players are debuting each year in the Pakistan Team and players now are a lot more aggressive that before.
