The game of cricket has seen numerous sporting stars and superstars. But only the few of the cricketers have been acknowledged as great by the general public and the cricketing fraternity. There are various cricketing legends who have played the game of cricket and some of them include the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Don Bradman, Garfield Sobers, Vivian Richards, etc. But there is one guy who has been most impressive in the way he has carried himself both on and off the field, cricket player Sachin Tendulkar.

This diminutive player made his international debut as a 16 year old and from his debut match onwards, he has been breaking numerous records and creating a few of them himself. A child prodigy, Sachin Tendulkar took to the sport of cricket like duck to water. He made his debut against the rampaging Pakistani pace trio of Imran Khan, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram.

That was baptism by fire, for the 16 year old and it was also the beginning of many of the wonderful battles against the Sultan of Swing, Wasim Akram.

He has to his credit some of the batting records which would be very difficult for anyone to break, if not impossible. He holds the record for the maximum number of runs in the ODI format of the game and also the maximum number of centuries in the same format. He also holds the record for the maximum number of centuries in test matches, previously held by another great Indian batsman, Sunil Gavaskar. His amazing consistency is one of the reasons why he is regarded as the best batsman the sport of cricket has ever seen, after Don Bradman. Sachin Tendulkar is also a smart bowler and an efficient fielder. The career of Sachin Tendulkar would see him scaling many other peaks, before he decides to hang up his boots.
