The sport of cricket has presented to the world some of the best sporting heroes and stars. The Gentleman's Game, as cricket is widely acknowledged to be, boast of some great players and characters. The game provides a true test of a player's strength, skill, talent, stamina, etc. There are numerous cricketing legends who have overcome the challenges which a cricket match posed and Vivian Richards is one of them.

This man had earned the reputation of being the most brutal batsman of the game. The details about the career of Vivian Richards and about cricket are given below. It would be very difficult to find a better destroyer of bowling attacks than Sir Issac Vivian Alexander Richards. Born on 7th March, 1952 he made his international debut against India in the year 1974. He announced himself in in the world of cricket by scoring an unbeaten 192 in the 2nd match of the series against the Indians.
That was the beginning of the exciting cricketing career of Vivian Richards. He has given nightmares to the best of the bowlers of his era. No other batsman has been able to instill the fear of God, in the bowlers, the way Viv Richards did. People traveled from different parts of the world to watch him in action.

The cricket player Vivian Richards was a master in the art of batting and always ensured that his opponents played in awe of him. He was a prolific scorer of runs in both the longer and the shorter version of the sport of cricket. In his test career, Richards played 121 matches and scored 8540 runs at an average of 50.23 runs. He also scored 24 centuries in test matches. He also played 187 ODIs scoring 6721 runs and 11 centuries at a remarkable average of 47 runs per innings. He was also an integral part of the world cup winning West Indian team of 1975 and 1979. Under his captaincy, the team won 27 test matches and lost 8 out the 50 which he captained.
