Cricket reached the shore of the Sub-continent much later than in the other western countries. The contribution of the Sub-continent players cannot be understated as cricket world has witnessed many stars hailing form the sub-continent. One such star is the Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram. This famous fast bowler from Lahore with an imposing height of 6 ft 2 in had been the terror for the batsmen. Since his Test debut in 1985 vs New Zealand, he has placed himself as one of the Cricketing Legends.

As Cricketing world has always been the devoted fans of the fast bowlers, Wasim Akram was not deprived from his due reverence. Leading from the front, Wasim Akram has always inspired the young stars to run down the wicket and bowl out the opponent with complete aggression. The perfect run-up immense determination and focused attitude has earned him the name of being one of the best Fast Bowlers in Cricket.

He was the main contributor during the 1992 World Cup when Pakistan won the great title. His worth cannot be doubted when we consider the fact that he has 502 ODI wickets under his name. Wasim was the first bowler in international cricket to take more than 400 wickets in both forms of the game.

Apart from Pakistan, Wasim Akram has given some nice memories which have given the world to cherish something about Cricket. Bowler Wasim Akram went through a boom period through the 1st half of 1990’s when he also captained for Pakistan. This gentleman who served Lancashire from 1988 to 1998 had to suffer from a serious groin injury in the late 1980s and other two surgeries. He soon revived and returned back to strike terror among the batsmen. Wasim Akram of Pakistan, nicknamed Sultan of Swing produced his reverse swings which proved fatal to the batsmen. He was also a responsible hard hitter, who was capable of generating some quick runs during the urgency. After his retirement in 2003 he is engaged in commentary profession.
