Cricket reached the shore of the Sub-continent much later than in the other western countries. This famous fast bowler from Lahore with an imposing height of 6 ft 2 in had been the terror for the batsmen. Bowler Wasim Akram went through a boom period through the 1st half of 1990’s when he also captained for Pakistan. This gentleman who served Lancashire from 1988 to 1998 had to suffer from a serious groin injury in the late 1980s and other two surgeries. He soon revived and returned back to strike terror among the batsmen. Wasim Akram of Pakistan, nicknamed Sultan of Swing produced his reverse swings which proved fatal to the batsmen. He was also a responsible hard hitter, who was capable of generating some quick runs during the urgency. After his retirement in 2003 he is engaged in commentary profession.
