National Stadium at Karachi

The National Stadium at Karachi is located in the Karachi city proper. As the name suggests, it is a National Stadium of Karachi in Pakistan. It is used for cricket matches and is the home ground of Pakistan's national and Karachi's domestic cricket teams. The stadium has a capacity to hold about 40,000 spectators which makes the National Stadium at Karachi, the second biggest stadium in Pakistan after the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The stadium has been criticized a lot for its small capacity.

Pakistan Cricket Board's announcements on the subject do not carry much credibility with the people (awam) of Pakistan. At least as far as the capacity of the National Stadium of Karachi in Pakistan Cricket is concerned.

The Pakistani cricket team have a remarkable Test record at the National Stadium at Karachi and have lost only once (versus England in December 2000-01). They have had success 21 times in 39 Test Matches over 50 years.
The stadium has also witnessed several unforgettable moments, such as Viv Richards 181 against Sri Lanka at the 1987 Cricket World Cup, Mohammad Yousuf's record ninth century of the year to break Viv Richards record of most runs in a calendar year, and Kamran Akmal's stolid century against India on a very difficult pitch in 2006, after Pakistan had collapsed to 39 for 6, as part of a memorable come-from-behind victory. The critical statistics of the National Stadium of Karachi for ODIs are :

One Day International at National Stadium at Karachi:

Highest team total 360 by West Indies against Sri Lanka 1987.
Lowest team total 122 by New Zealand against Pakistan 2002.
Highest Run Chase Achieved 306/5 by England against Pakistan 2000-01
