Queen's Park Oval

Queen's Park Oval is in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago is the largest cricket ground in the West Indies that has hosted more Test matches than any other Caribbean ground. Queen's Park Oval also hosted a number of matches of the Cricket World Cup 2007. The Queen's Park Oval is under private ownership of the Queen's Park Cricket Club and has a seating for 30,000.

The Queen's Park Oval was formerly known as St Clair Oval and does not have floodlights. The two ends are Pavilion End and Media Center End. It has a grassy pitch since 1954. Queen's Park Oval is a very picturesque and old ground. The pavilion was built in 1896 and was replaced by a two tiered structure in 1952 and has remained unchanged since then. For forty years as natural turf was damaged by mole cricket, clay strip covered with matting was used. In 1954 this was replaced by grass pitches again.

Queen's Park Oval is a jazzy ground with the northern hills their inspiring feature. The Concrete Stand now the Learie Constantine Stand has the best cricket loving fans who are also the most colorful and boisterous. The Queen's Park Oval has been the scene for some dramatic showdowns and history. It has seen historical and Caribbean magic performances by West Indies – like England being bowled out for 46 in 1994-95. However at times their sporting nature and lackadaisical attitude has let them down as in 1967 and 68 when Garry Sobers's declaration had allowed England winning by seven wickets, and levelling the series and in 1976 and 1977, -77 India beating Clive Lloyd's side with a record 406 for 4. The Queen's Park Oval is all that is about cricket and remains the one of the most popular cricket grounds in the Caribbean.
